Crowd.Science (formerly Walacea.com) is a crowdfunding platform dedicated to science. In the UK, there is £10 billion of research that is not funded; not because of quality, but because of a lack of funds. To date, over £750k has been pledged to projects on Crowd.Science from 3.4k members of the public, 12 businesses, and one philanthropist. They host a broad range of projects that appeal to different audiences, ranging from rare diseases, conservation, forensic science, to more. The only rule is that science must benefit society in some way. They offer the public, corporates, and major donors the opportunity to fund the scientific research that people care about such as health and environment-related topics.
